General Ledger
The General Ledger system provides the user with the ability to
maintain and report quantitative information about the financial
status and activities of one or more companies. This information
is intended to provide accurate, time sensitive data useful in
making current economic decisions as well as plans for the
future.
Many of the tedious bookkeeping procedures required to maintain
an accounting system have been replaced with interactive data
entry programs which produce timely and accurate output in easy
to read formats. Every effort has been made to provide
sufficient audit trails and assist company personnel in
maintaining the highest quality financial records possible.
Master files are maintained for the chart of accounts, standard
journal entries, financial statement formats, fiscal year dates,
and company names. The chart of accounts file carries both prior
year and budget figures for up to thirteen periods. The standard
journal file is optional and is intended to reduce redundant
entry of recurring transactions. The unique flexibility of the
financial statement format file allows for user defined financial
statement formats as well as the creation of other similar
reports. The fiscal year dates file provides the ability to
specify the beginning and ending dates for each period which in
turn make up the fiscal year. The company file maintains company
names and addresses for each company code.
The standard accounting reports are provided, as well as variance
reports based on budget and prior year amounts, and other reports
created by the financial statement format file. Pro forma
statements are available in any format established on the
financial statement format file. All of the reports, except for
any edit lists and registers, are available in either hard copy
or CRT form.
System management functions are provided for determining decimal
alignment, compressing the year to date file, updating budget
amounts, and doing end of year maintenance.
