Word Processing
The MPAC word processing functions provide for the editing,
validation, formatting, and printing of text files. The system
is designed to be equally effective for brief documents such as
correspondence and for lengthly documents such as technical write
ups and specifications.
Each Word Processing function is prefaced by a standard file
selection screen. The user may specify a document to be
processed, request a range of document names to be displayed for
selection, or request all available documents to be displayed.
The text editor is designed to be easy to use, while offering
many powerful features. Commands may be invoked through control
keys, special editing keys, or via a command line interface
supporting command names and mnemonic abbreviations. Command
keys may be re-assigned to the user's preference. Advanced
features include multiple files, multiple windows, and macros
created from the keyboard or from startup files.
A spell checker is provided for spelling verification. Spelling
listings may include the complete document text or questionable
spellings only, and may be displayed or printed.
A text formatter using standard "roff" style formatting commands
is also provided.
System management functions allow for the specification of
various operating parameters including the directory to be used
for storing documents. Various indicators are provided including
public or private text files, and startup file processing. The
system may be set to seek a global startup file for all users
and/or private startup files per user, terminal type, or both.
