Data Collection
The Data Collection system provides for the printing of bar-coded
documents and for the collection of information through the use
of bar code readers.
Carton label printing is provided in a number of ways; a function
for the printing of manual free-form labels provides for AIAG
standard format and for specialized formats conforming to the
specifications of various major trading partners. Carton labels
may also be customer order driven, in which case open customer
orders provide the information required for label formatting.
Customer orders booked through MPAC EDI will typically carry all
of the information required to produce labels in the appropriate
trading partner-specific formats.
The production routings section produces bar-coded production
order documentation, facilitating shop floor labor data
collection via bar code readers. Employee i.d. badge generation
provides bar-coded employee identification.
A shop floor data collection function is provided in support of
data capture via shop floor terminals and bar code readers.
Information which may be keyed or wanded include employee ID, job
number, line item, step, start and end times, and quantities
completed and scrapped. Defaults for start and end times are
provided according to shift start time, the end time of the
operator's previous activity, and the current time of day.
