Document Imaging
The MPAC document imaging functions provide for the storage,
archival, retrieval, and reproduction of documents in text or
image form. By storing documents electronically, storage
requirements are reduced dramatically, specific documents may be
retrieved in seconds, and the same document may be simultaneously
viewed at more than one CRT.
Functions are provided for document scanning/storage, document
importation, document retrieval, and listing of stored documents.
Documents may be indexed on up to six i.d.'s when stored, and
retrieved using any or all of them. Document importation allows
reading of text files from a word processor, or other report
generating system. During retrieval, a single document or a
range of documents may be viewed; if a range is specified that
comprises multiple documents, then the documents may be viewed
consecutively, or selected from a listing. Documents may be
stored by document type (i.e. invoice), or without a document
type if the system is configured in such fashion. If document
types are used, then document profiles may be specified:
describing i.d. types, etc. Support is provided for setting
scanning resolution: supported resolutions are 200, 300, and 400
d.p.i.
System management functions are provided for the maintenance of
various system operating parameters. Volumes may also be
archived onto laser or other media, for storage.
