Capacity Requirements Planning
The Capacity Planning system is a tool for creating and
maintaining a picture of planned capacity and load for each work
center. Detail capacity requirements are generated and reported
by combining the current shop schedule of released orders with
the capacity requirements generated by future planned orders,
highlighting potential capacity problems so that corrective
action may be taken. The master production schedule may also be
extended through resource requirements planning to provide a
rough cut picture of the capacity load imposed, and yielding
important information as to whether the schedule can be executed.
Detail capacity planning extends all master schedule entries,
firm planned orders, and planned orders from MRP by their regular
production routings. This information is then combined with the
current shop schedule to provide a picture of the total planned
shop load.
The resource requirements planning functions allow for rough cut
capacity planning by using composite routings for items in the
master production schedule. Once the composite resource routings
are entered for the appropriate items, the master production
schedule can be exploded to create a rough cut capacity picture.
Net change and complete regeneration capabilities are provided
for capacity planning and resource requirements planning.
Detail inquiry and summary reports are available for both the
detail capacity and resource requirements plans. Detail
inquiries show the individual operations planned for each work
center by day, while summaries show the total load by day, week,
or month.
Planned order and resource routing listings are also provided so
that the planned routing for a planned order or master schedule
entry may be reported.
