Bill of Materials

The Bill of Material system provides for the maintenance and
analysis of information regarding the structure of manufactured
items. Maintenance is designed to be as efficient as possible,
and a wide range of analysis reporting functions is provided.
Inquiry displays and reports are generated dynamically at inquiry
time so that the most current status of all pertinent inventory
and product structure data is always available.
Product structure maintenance is accomplished via a simple entry
procedure which requires the entry of first level components
only. After entry of these single-level bills, the reporting
functions have the ability to automatically explode all sub
assemblies, regardless of the number of levels of sub assemblies
       and components involved.

The data items to be shown on the reports and file maintenance
screens may be selected by the user from a list of items relating
to product structure, inventory availability, product costing,
shop load, etc. Each explosion function also has the capability
to update the total costs and run hours of assemblies based on
the current costs and run times of their individual components.

In addition to its maintenance and reporting functions, the Bill
of Material system makes product structure information available
for Material Requirements Planning and automatic allocation of
       material to production orders.
