Production Control
The Production Control system provides for the maintenance and
analysis of data pertaining to order status and priority, shop
capacity and load, work in process inventory, job cost, and
production efficiency.
Master file records are maintained for inventory items, work
centers in the shop, and production routings or process plans.
The shop scheduling calendar of working days, weekends, and
holidays is also maintained by the Production Control system.
Open order records showing items on order, the operations to be
performed, and material allocated and issued are maintained for
each open production job. Labor expended and material issued are
applied to the open order records in order to provide a history
of job cost per operation and type of material consumed.
Detail on planned production operations is recorded by scheduled
start and finish dates, allowing the system to produce
information regarding the relative priority of jobs in process
and the planned loading of work centers by date.
Labor transactions indicating setup and run times and quantities
finished, scrapped, and/or moved are applied at the individual
operation level. These transactions facilitate the monitoring of
order progress and cost. A detailed labor history may optionally
be kept for the duration of a pay period or until the associated
jobs are closed.
Functions are available for the rescheduling of individual
planned operations, individual planned issues, or entire orders,
including scheduled dates for all related detail. These
functions make it possible to continually maintain valid
priorities at the individual operation level, thereby providing
vital information for the execution of the production plan.
